Bayer HealthCare fully supports the Statement of Voluntary Commitment of Bayer AG dated September 9, 1999, to act in the sense of the world-wide Responsible Care Initiative of VCI and ICCA. We strive to - continuously promote and constantly improve the protection of the health of humans, animals and the environment, as well as the safety of employees, fellow citizens and patients world-wide out of our own responsibility as a concern of fundamental importance, particularly in the following areas:
- research and development of new products,
- current and future production processes,
- storage and transportation of goods,
- sale, application, utilization, and disposal of products,
- transfer of technology.
- minimize the risks of our HealthCare products for the benefit of patients and as part of our product responsibility.
- limit or even discontinue the sale of products, regardless of economic interests, in case that the results of a risk evaluation so require for the protection of health or environment.
- regularly update safety evaluations, safety analyses and alarm and danger defense plans related to the safety of products, equipment, employees and the environment.
- observe patterns of illness throughout the world and develop appropriate medications for their prevention and treatment, in line with our Responsible Care principles and our financial goals.
- develop integrated health care systems, and thereby flexibly satisfy the different needs of the world's populations. Belonging to this are prevention and educational program, diagnostic systems, as well as prescription and non-prescription medicines.
- constantly promote and further develop the awareness of this responsibility of all employees in the use of resources, such as raw materials, energy, equipment, etc., and with it the Responsible Care culture of personal responsibility.
- continually encourage and continuously improve dialog both within and outside Bayer HealthCare.
